On July 7, H.E. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Member of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Cabinet and Minister of Climate Change and Environment, led a delegation to the School of Environment (SOE) at Tsinghua University. The two sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on strengthening cooperation in scientific research and other areas.
Professor Liu Shuming, Dean of SOE, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He provided an overview of SOE’s recent developments in scientific research, discipline construction, and talent cultivation. He emphasized that the School highly values its partnership with the UAE, noting the strong alignment of goals between both parties. He expressed his anticipation for exploring deeper collaborative models to jointly address global environmental challenges.
H.E. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak commended SOE for its remarkable achievements in environmental disciplines. She shared the UAE’s initiatives and current challenges regarding climate change, environmental governance, and sustainable development. The Minister expressed her expectation that both sides would strengthen cooperation in scientific research and the commercialization of research findings in the future.

The meeting session
During the meeting, representatives from both sides held detailed discussions on priority areas for cooperation. Following the talks, the UAE delegation visited the Environmental Materials Research Platform, the Environmental Analysis and Observation Research Platform, and the Laboratory of Air Pollution and Control.
The meeting was attended by Wang Shuxiao, Associate Chair of the School Council; Li Junhua, Director of the National Engineering Research Center for Synergetic Control of Air Pollutants and Greenhouse Gases; Li Jinhui, Chief Scientist of the Circular Economy and Urban Resources Research Team; and Lu Xi, Director of the Division of Air Pollution and Its Control and Assistant Dean of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality.
